Work on a major housing development in the Thames Gateway is close to starting after being on hold for years.

The Eastern Quarry site which stretches from Bluewater to Ebbsfleet Station in North Kent is owned by Land Securities.

This site supports one of the last remaining populations of great crested newt in the local area. One of the ponds was actually found by Calumma Ecological Services. Hopefully, any planned mitigation works will ensure that great crested newt populations are suitably protected.
